Les Terriens - Saint Joseph Rouge
Wine Making: Pruning- 'Goblet' Pruning on stakes and 'cordon de roya" pruning on wires.
The grapes for 'Les Terriens' are manually harvested, de-stemmed and then sent to a vibrating table. They are then sent to conveyor belts and go into the maceration stage for 20 days in temperature-controlled conditions in barrels.
The Syrah grapes are then aged for 18 months in barrels and 600L1/2 Muids, racking and blending takes place 6 weeks before blending.
Terroir: The vines are located on the Saint Joseph appellation on the hillsides facing the south/south-east the soils are granitic with the continental temperature of hot dry summers.
Tasting: A classic Saint Joseph with a deep ruby red appearance. The aroma starts with a pleasant start of cherries and raspberry, developing into dark fruits and spiced fragrances.
The taste is fresh and smooth with rounded tannins, coating the mouth with red berries and finishing with slightly smoked peppers.
How to drink and serve: To be served between 14-16°C. Recommended pairing to be served with French onion soup, braised beef or cassoulet. To be consumed within the next 15 years.
